These videos are prime examples of the kind of situation that makes someone at an agency say, "I'm sure Phil can figure this out."

They had a premium, human-grade dog food to sell. Timing was tight; in both cases they needed to go from script to final delivery in one week. Budget was also tight. Not that there was time to contract a production company anyway, but each video was a 4-figure budget.

Tonally, the client wanted something funny. Not just "I'm willing to watch this all the way through" funny, but "I'll see this on YouTube/Instagram/TikTok and actually share it" funny.

Given the goals and constraints, a lo-fi aesthetic only made sense–so I wrote with that in mind. And then it was off to the races. In addition to being the writer I was also the art director, editor, and illustrator. Oh yeah–and the sound guy.  And I wouldn't have it any other way.
