Microsoft Cloud Viral: Don't Get Stuck in the I.T. Past

Microsoft needed to speak to a very specific audience of IT decision makers, and even more specifically, send a shot across the bow of their biggest competitor, VMWare. VMWare (started by two ex-Microsoft employees, not coincidentally) was already selling outdated technology by comparison to Microsoft's, and Microsoft wanted to make sure the IT world got this message loud and clear.

Delivering a competitive message is a delicate matter because it can easily come across as tasteless or make it look like you're playing from behind. But in the hands of a skilled satirist like yours truly, it can be done brilliantly, be shared virally among people in the intended audience, and even be named one of TED's Ten Ads Worth Spreading.
